Leak Insurance Program

Dona Ana Mutual Domestic Water Consumers Association (MDWCA) offers a Leak Insurance Program to help members manage high water bills caused by unexpected leaks.

Program Highlights:

  • Coverage up to $1,000 per year for excess water charges due to a verified leak.

  • Applies once every 12 months (rolling basis from the date of your last adjustment).

  • Automatically enrolled with a small monthly fee per meter (users may opt out).

  • Covers water usage costs only — not average or normal usage.

  • Payment arrangements are available for leak-related charges above $1,000 or for users not enrolled in the program.

Eligibility:

  • Available only for meters up to 2 inches in size.

  • Meters over 2 inches are not eligible for adjustment, but may qualify for payment plans.


How It Works:

  1. Discover and fix the leak.

  2. Call ServLine (our third-party program provider) and report the leak, including the total water bill amount.

  3. Submit proof of repair to Dona Ana MDWCA.

  4. We’ll calculate your average water usage and adjust your bill up to $1,000 above your normal bill for the leak period (up to 3 months).

Opting Out

If you prefer not to participate, you may opt out of the program. However, you’ll still be eligible for payment arrangements in the event of a high bill due to a leak.
